I'm glad to see the Hasidim of Rockland County are getting their money's worth

Chris St. Lawrence is supervisor of Ramapo, a town in Rockland County, and he and his office are widely assumed to be a wholly-owned subsidiaries of the local Square, Vishnitz and Satmar Hasidim. According to my crack Rockland correspondent (shtriemal tip on request) the theory has merit. He tells me a town police office dared to follow standard police protocols by requiring a woman to remove her wig for a mug-shot. The woman, who was arrested (along with 43 others) on charges of felony welfare fraud, complained and the acrobatic, eager-to-please supervisor has apologized and called for an investigation.
