The timing

There's been a great deal of talk around the blogosphere regarding the religious significance of begining the disengagement right after Tisha B'Av. Even many supporters of the disengagement, say that the religious resonances of its occurring at this time are pretty bad.

I don't agree.

The Jews of GK aren't being destroyed, and they aren't being expelled. They are being taken into Israel, by agents of a soveriegn Jewish state, in the fulfillment of 2000 years of Tisha B'av prayers.

For this reason, I think the timing is poetic and profound. And though I acknowledge that the residents of GK wish to remain where they are in the Land of Plishtim, all the same, a divine promise is being fulfilled.

May we in NY, and Baltimore and Miami have the merit to soon follow in their footsteps.
